A tribal Cherokee chief
This means that even as I sit here in my sense of “I,” feeling alone and isolated, the grace of God is drawing me into my good.
Or: The good you seek is seeking you. Zen proverb
So, whatever my emotions and thoughts are at this moment, something higher is drawing me into my beautiful future. Right now!
We are all destined for enlightenment, so we may as well relax into it with this breath.
The other day as I was walking around my home just doing what needed to be done, a wonderful sense of something very sweet swept over me. I knew, really knew, that the beauty and goodness of life is right here, right now.
It felt like grace.
Jesus has said, “Take my yoke upon you; learn of me, for I will give you peace. For my burden is light.”
So, when we feel that old sadness of self pity, or of wishing things were different than they are right now, there is an alternative realm of thinking and being we can shift into.
First of all we can treat ourselves with compassion. Because it’s hard to live feeling estranged, left out, and sometimes helpless.
Compassion yokes us to spiritual truths.
Let’s be compassionate towards ourselves for living days, months and maybe years unaware of the courage and strength of our souls — the courage it took just to get up each morning and try to do the best we can.
If you’re anything like me you may have had a history of this.
God’s help is here for us now. The winds of the heavens are carrying us across the sky.
We may be thinking we have to do it all alone — with no one to show us the way.
This is the time to make a new beginning!
So, right now know you are being loved beyond anything you can imagine.
This moment. No matter what seems to be happening, you are loved and cherished.
Feel the compassion of the grace of God that holds you right now.
Here is an exercise to help develop a heart of compassion.
Daily reflection questions:
AM I WILLING TO SHOW MYSELF COMPASSION
HOW WILL THIS LOOK?
HOW DOES COMPASSION FEEL RIGHT NOW?
Breathe deeply as you allow answers to come, and for God’s love to enfold you.
Trust the process.
