Deeper than our families, tribes, cultures, race, gender or nationalities, we all have one common place of origin.
All humanity, everything that is, emanates from this one Source.
Light comes from the stars.
Starlight is our true birthright.
“We are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
Teilhard de Chardin
Yes, we have been born from stardust and are on an amazing journey.
What a long and often arduous road, strewn with seemingly insurmountable obstacles, we have traveled!
And here we are! What courage it has taken.
Born of ancient light, we carry all that we ever have been. This Light still breaths us and is this moment giving us everything we need to move into our next step of expression.
Each of us is filled with the creative ability to bring forth a new world, and have been doing so since the “Big Bang.”
We inhabit a mind that can make choices! This is creative power.
Considering all that we have lived through, and the seemingly impossible conditions we survived, what could possibly keep us stuck now?
Life has no capacity to stay imprisoned. Life never gives up. And this is what we are: pure life and radiant light.
Each stage of life had to give way for the new to be born. It wasn’t easy—but vital—for life always proceeds onward and upward.
And whatever stage we now find ourselves in is the invitation into the birth of something new, something that will surprise and astonish us.
New birth requires open hearted acceptance of all that has been, not just “grin and bear it,” but a real warm hearted acceptance.
Whatever has been only came to help us move forward in a new and innovative way.
It has been said that the Western world’s greatest addiction is trying to figure things out. “Just let me think this through one more time. I’ll get the answer.”
It’s so tempting to think we can figure out what to do when it was our “best thinking” that got us into the dilemma in the first place.
By that “determine to problem solve” choice we stay stuck in frustration and suffering.
As Einstein said, “A problem can’t be solved at the same level of thinking at which it was created.”
The solution must come from something higher.
We have the choice of trying to “figure it out” or stop clinging to the methods we are using. We can learn to let go when we are stuck. instead of continuing to try to force our way, we can learn to release our mighty grip on the problem through surrender.
Surrender is a bad word in our culture. “Don’t ever give up,” we say.
It all depends how we let go, and to what? Not despair, but to that which is really in control. God Light.
Charles Fillmore, the Co-Founder of Unity wrote: “Never surrender to another person, place or thing. Only surrender to the Christ Presence that is within everyone and everything.” This is our safety.
We don’t surrender to another person’s thoughts or attitudes.
We surrender to the radiant Light and Love, which is the Real Essence of each one of us. This invisible energy knows how to take one step, and then another, proceeding into the new.
Life continually dies to the old so that something new can be born. It transforms into greater joy and serenity.
So, when I am in pain of any kind I ask myself what needs to be accepted and appreciated. Gradually conditions change on their own, but I don’t do it.
As Jesus said, “I, of myself can do nothing.”
Allowing the universe to breathe me, I take one step at a time.
Answers, ideas, gradually find their way into my heart. I don’t know exactly what needs to be done , but something within me does.
This is the hero’s journey. Each of us at some time stepped into that dark forest, alone, and we met the dragons of chaos and impermanence. Yet we proceeded because there was no back door.
We simply groped and somehow found our allies and took another step, and then another.
Not knowing how, we became something new.
All this deep knowing from the past still resides within us.
We can rely on the Light to take us into the next moment, the next experience.
We’ve died to what was and been reborn into the new so many times in infinite ways that it is a deeply grooved pattern within us.
We need only to step into the gap once again by letting go of the handrails we are hanging onto right now.
“Step into the chasm. It’s not as wide as you think.”
Whatever is taking place now is only temporary. It’s here to teach us a new way of being.
Can we give this situation some form of kindness? That’s all it asks of us.
It wants to be appreciated, for it’s a stepping stone into the next.
With lovingkindness all things soften and reshape. We don’t have to manage the process, just align ourselves with it and trust.
Trust what is. It has come as a gift. And it won’t stay. Everything flows. And everything that flows is healthy, as the Tao says.
The same Light out of which we came guides us into something new!
