Then a boat appeared.
The little boat’s bow penetrated the lake’s surface at a very small point. I observed the wake it left as it rippled out wider and wider — finally becoming enormous!
I reflected about how similar are the actions of our thoughts on this great sea of energy in which we live. We think a thought, and that thought leaves its own wake.
Thoughts vibrate out into this field of energy and affect everyone, just as that wake affected the entire lake.
Often we are unaware, just going about on our merry way, thinking mindlessly — not consciously realizing that our thoughts are affecting everyone on the planet.
But they do. Every thought makes a difference, for better or for worse.
There are no neutral thoughts.
What wake are you leaving with your thoughts right now? How disturbed are they? Or how calm and centered?
Is your wake troubling to those behind you? Leaving rough currents to move through? Or almost drowning others in its turbulence?
Or is it a wake of harmony and grace? Is your wake giving others a smooth path? A way to help them move through the currents of their lives?
What is the attitude of your mind right now?
Every thought is the beginning point of a journey. As it penetrates the stuff of life, the effects it causes multiply and grow larger.
Each thought touches ”what is” and affects what is becoming.
Thoughts, feelings, attitudes and intentions don’t go without consequences, for we all live in this vast sea of energy, and we continually affect one another.
What is the intention with which you begin each day?
Every day I ask myself how awake and aware I am as I move into each new moment. What is my mind doing?
For I am leaving a wake.
Mind cannot stop thinking. It’s just human. And, as a human, I am responsible for my thoughts and attitudes. I have choices.
Choices become intentions.
I ask myself how kind my heart is right now. Am I beating myself up in some way? Or others? Am I hurt or angry?
I then sit with this in meditation, and also take these “energies” into my journal so that wisdom can grow and I can make new decisions. I truly desire to leave a wake that is helpful to others.
Am I listening both within and without? Am I listening to those with whom I live and connect?
Am I aware of the music of my body and soul, and the songs they are singing to me?
It takes stillness to listen. Stillness can become mindfulness.
Love leaves a harmonious wake.
You and I, right now can consciously choose to embrace everyone with lovingkindness.
Together we truly make a difference. Vibrations become larger as energy connects.
Thanks for joining in and making the effort!
