Our lives are built around trust. Trust is where we place our faith.
Jesus has said to place our faith in God.
Charles Fillmore, co-founder of Unity, has advised us not to trust anyone’s personality, but to always trust the Christ within them.
My definition of the Christ is the very essence of Who and What we are. It is the very nature of God within each being, within each blade of grass. It is the spirit of God that lives in everything.
Developing wisdom in where we place our trust, our faith is a vital process of spiritual growth.
A short time ago as I was listening to all the life issues some of my children were going through, I began to feel very sad.
I journaled. I meditated, and something flashed through my mind.
I went to the New Insights section of my journal and wrote:
I have done my job as a parent. I have spent many, many years parenting four children, and I worked with them as best I could. Now my parenting job is complete. They make their own decisions and reap the consequences of their thoughts and actions. This is all good.
I have only one job left to do, and this will go on forever. It is to trust the Christ within them. And I do. For I love them so much.
As I wrote those words I felt a rejoicing in my body and soul, a release of heaviness.
I truly believe the universe knows how to grow and to become. It is filled with the Christ Spirit. I trust it.
I trust the Christ Spirit within me to think, say and do what is mine to do.
I dedicate myself to listening to the Christ Spirit. I am willing to spend the time and energy to listen, and to believe and to trust.
Trusting the Christ within others has put a foundation under my feet. It has required me to look beyond appearances and to search for, and to connect with the real essence of the ISNESS of every one I meet.
This practice has helped me understand that our world is coming into being, being born, through every connection we make — each time we meet — each time we even think of another.
We are truly birthing a new world.
I invite you to bring to mind someone in your life and take a few moments to focus on the nature of the Christ within them. Allow yourself to be connected, truth to truth, Christ to Christ, and allow the love that is the essence of life flow between you.
Trust the Christ in the one you might feel worried about. Spend time reflecting on this.
And above all, trust the Christ within yourself.
This is a true Christmas gift!
