Think about that for a moment.
We want to be free from fear, and so we avoid fear by denying our anxiety with myriad distractions, using our special anxiety-management systems.
We need to enter our fears, from the inside, get right into our emotions with our loving, watchful Higher Self, so that love and attention can transform them into something valuable. And there is such treasure within them!
As Joseph Campbell has said, “Follow your bliss. Your bliss will be found at the core of your suffering.” (Interesting how people have lopped off the last part and totally missed the deeper meaning!)
So each morning, do your best to pause and check your desires, wants and needs. Bring them into your heart space, holding them up for inspection to your Higher Power. Sit in the silence with them and allow your inner spirit to guide you.
If you find “hot energy” in any of these desires, that’s a clear sign it is a want, not a need. Hot energy has a pushiness, a quality of neediness, of desperation. This shows it is of the ego — no matter how much you might deny and think of all the good this will bring. Oh, how ego loves to rationalize.
When this happens, ask yourself: “What matters most? What am I here for?”
Then, once again, give yourself to the purposes of your soul and ask your ego to stand by, to quiet itself and allow Divine Love, your Higher Self, to lead.
Give yourself this gift — the practice of meditation, following the next right step, taking the next right action, and with the commitment to listen ever more deeply to the still, small voice inside your heart.
